On November 11th, in the NÖVOG depot in Mariazellerbahn (Laubenbachmühle, Austria), we installed two systems for the “TOR” spraying of the HeadLub®90 friction modifier (Igralub AG) to the rail head crown, to a low-floor, three-section tram, driven in both directions, manufactured by the Swiss company Stadler Rail. This installation completed the original "WFL" system for spraying lubricant on wheel flanges, supplied by the manufacturer, which was not sufficiently effective in removing the noise from the wheel/rail contact.
The trial operation is planned for the upcoming winter season, which is long and abundant in snow in this area. If the system proves its efficiency and reliability on the ET7 tram, we expect the customer to request it to be installed in the other eight vehicles.
