Solid lubricants for rail wheel flanges (WFL)
- Extends wheel life by reducing rim wear
- Minimizes wear on the rail side and surface
- Reduce energy/fuel consumption
- Does not transfer to the top of the rail head
- Does not affect traction and braking
- No external moving parts
- Non-flammable

Solid lubricants are successfully used on rail vehicles, where they solve problems with wheel wear and energy consumption.
Solid lubricant, also known as 100% dry solid stick lubricant based on a thermosetting polymer containing MoS2 and graphite, which has been proven to ensure less wear on the wheel and rail and has no comparable equivalent in the industry. It does not contaminate the surrounding environment, equipment and track structure, and does not migrate to the railhead, where traction and braking efficiency must be maintained.
Compared to lubricating sticks with a different composition, it exhibits the necessary lubricating ability, stability and resistance to rapid wear.
Solid lubricants are designed for the lubrication of flanges, successfully reducing noise and wear by adjusting the friction coefficient below 0.15.
The dimensions of the lubricant and its applicator must be selected according to the nature of the operation, free space and maintenance schedule. An assessment of technical requirements is necessary for the design of a solution.
